Alterations

Looking for Alterations?
From my point of view as a tailor, altering special-occasion clothing or costumes starts with seeing how the garment fits on the person. I look for areas that are too tight, too loose, too long, or uneven, while also paying attention to how the fabric moves and how the design should look. I use pins to mark the changes, making sure the garment stays comfortable and keeps its original style. Then, I carefully take apart only the parts I need to fix, like seams or hems, and adjust them. If the fabric is delicate or has decorations, I work slowly and often sew by hand to avoid damage. After making the changes, I put the garment back together, press it so it looks neat, and have the person try it on again. In the end, my goal is to make sure the garment fits well, looks right, and helps the person feel confident and comfortable.
